Port of Ciutadella

The Port of Ciutadella is a port of small dimensions that stands out for its good infrastructure, as well as by its four ports: fishing, sports, commercial and passenger. Without a doubt, it is one of the most beautiful marinas of the island of Menorca.
This is a work port very innovative and a construction based on the maximum respect for the environment and landscape of the area and to preserve the environmental values of the cove.
One of the peculiarities of the port of Ciutadella is the meteorological phenomenon known as ‘rissaga’. (weather phenomenon coastal causes a variation in very strong high tide.)

Throughout history there have been ‘rissagas’ very destructive, as of 2006, which destroyed virtually all the boats of the port of Ciutadella and flooded some of the areas closest to the dock.
During the last decades, the port, initially for traffic and commercial fishing, has experienced an important increase of the recreational boats that have slowly been occupying the whole of the banks suitable for anchoring.
